10.10 - IKEA TIME

It seems like every time I look at my watch there is a certain amount of symmetry in the time presented. For me the clock usually is ten past ten, quarter past three (time I was born) or 18.18 (the secret agent name I used when I was a kid). So why does most ad campaign targeting clock consumers prefer the time ten past ten. Why are all IKEA clocks set that way?

A recent article in the NY times tackling this matter has found these conclusions. A ten over ten time frame frames the logo and that a ten over ten time frame is more upward (happy) than let's say twenty past eight (downer). It is obviously a cover up. There must be more to this conspiracy. Where is Emmet Brown when I need him?

In a country where woman are not allowed to drive or show their face in public, underground all-chick rockband Accolade is currently recording & performing a revolution in the basements of Saudi Arabia. Check out their music on their myspace.They cant perform in public, pose for album cover pictures. Their jam sessions are secret for fear of offending the religious authorities in this ultraconservative country.

2025

National Intelligence Council (NIC) produced a report on how the world will look like in 2025. Here is a short summary. USA will no longer be a dominant super-power. The western free market capitalism will lose ground to state controlled capitalism. Democracy will lose relevance due to increased presence of dictatorships like Russia and China. The world population will hit eight billion with 16% of those people living in the west. There will be a 50% rise in demand for food. 63% of the worlds population is expected to be poor. The poor will be poorer. Physical water shortage will lead to severe international conflicts. Without a strong western power present, the arms race in the middle east will escalate. On top of all that, China is developing its space program, designing weapons to shoot down satellites. There is predicted that future warfare will be cyber warfare, where nations will be shut down by hackers on governments payrolls. I will probably be working in a corporate research department in a basement somewhere. My kids will never see me, and my beautiful wife keeps spending more and more time at my best friend house. I write 2500 pages on corporate finance without recognition. It will turn out that smoking actually is dangerous. Drugs are legal to numb the pain. The glorious past that we all took for granted is lost. The republicans were right. There actually was a link between Al quaida and WMD. George Bush becomes man of the year. CIA turns into ICA to fuck with the opposition. I am still here. I will still write this stupid blog.

STIFF OVERLIP

The festivity is upon us again. The annual mustache celebration at Theresesgate in Oslo is scheduled for the 7th February 2009 at 8.00. Everybody is welcome, though mustach is a must. Woman are accepted with artificial applications.

BRADLEY GO BYE BYE

We have a new American president. Congratulations. Spent the election night jumping around the halls waiting for the final vote to be counted. Brilliant winning speech, so controlled and accurate, I'm impressed. The next morning there was a fire drill. A sound that would make any person carve new eardrums. No fire though. I was a bit disappointed. All this talk about change.

CANDY BAR

Got invited to a membership only lesbian bar in Soho London. The only lesbian bar in London with a strip pole and a in-house-hot-stripper. Nice night out, got a bit drunk and confused. Why were the pool table balls smaller and why was there no toilet seats? Found a bus home, me and my new friend Janja, got home to the flats, played a little late night electric guitar with German Dan, woke up, saw darjeeling limited on my new tv/dvd bought of a china man for £20. Nice weekend. The Halloween party Friday wasn't bad either judging by the mess and the bruise on my left hand. 30 people in costumes jumping around. Fun.
